CIME extends its reach to Eastern Europe in Sofia, Bulgaria

Tatiana Vaksberg addressed journalism ethics in the Eastern European context, drawing on case studies from her native Bulgaria and from her work as media correspondent on the Milosevic trial in the Hague.
American journalist Barry Hillenbrand, who worked for 34 years with Time Magazine, discussed ethics and regulation.

CIME participated in a media ethics conference hosted by the American Embassy of Bulgaria in Sofia on May 11th. CIME's Director was present with founding members Tanya Obushtarova (Bulgaria) and Markéta Bílská (Czech Republic).

Panelists included Ognian Zlatev of the Media Development Center (MDC) in Sofia, and Tatiana Vaksberg who has worked for Bulgarian National Television and Radio Free Europe, and is particularly active in upholding standards in media ethics through the RiskMonitor public policy institute.
