CIME Leadership Corner
Dear Media Ethics-Minded Reader,
 |
| Kayeromi Gomez |
CIME Forum 2009 is now history and the organizing committee for the CIME Forum 2010 will soon come out with details on next year's gathering of journalists, to address a practical approach to developing ethics in the media in a new location and with a renewed focus.
As promised, we now have a publication of all the panel presentations of the CIME Forum 2009 available on our website. A copy of this publication in the original French can be found by clicking here.
The goal of this publication is to enable as many individuals as possible around the world with an investment in media ethics to reap the fruits of CIME Forum 2009. The text may serve as a resource for those working in the field who would like to refer to the real-life ethical dilemmas brought forth by journalists participating in the CIME Forum - specifically within the context of the event's theme: elections reporting.
It is with great pleasure that I contribute to this month's newsletter, to share with you the news that CIME has come much further than its founding committee ever imagined, in very little time. In the early days of CIME, we thought we were creating an organization to deal with ethics in the hometowns of our few founding members. The demand for the services we provide has far exceeded our wildest dreams and come from countries all over the world.
All of us here at CIME are delighted to see that we are impacting the journalistic world one continent at a time, one country at a time, and one city at a time. There is no greater joy for us than to see people appreciate our humble efforts to change the world. I would like to once again thank our partners and supporters for their contributions. A special thanks to our volunteers who assist us day and night to see CIME create a tangible impact. We could not do it without your help and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
To those of you who write to us every month, commenting on our newsletter or even suggesting that we come to your part of the world with CIME media ethics activities, we want to thank you and reassure you that your suggestions are given critical attention and will be addressed as soon as CIME has the means. So please keep them coming. And for those of you who call just to let us know that you receive our newsletter, we also want to say thank you. Thank you for reading. Until next month - keep thinking ethically!
Yours,
Kayeromi Gomez
